Saturday, January 21, 2022 | 10am - 11:30am | MMAM, Oberton Education Room

Registration is required, and space is limited to 25 attendees per program.

Frozen River Film Festival Managing Director Eileen Moeller will lead an artsXchange conversation on Saturday, January 21, about the nature of creative work and how we share our stories through a variety of mediums. What is creative work? Who is allowed to do it? What are the differences between capital "A" Art and creative work? In this artsXchange, Eileen will invite us to think about who is an artist and who has a story to tell. Participants will explore the museum’s collections and current exhibitions, with special attention to Water Stories: New Work by Anne Labovitz before it leaves the museum on January 22nd.

Originally from the Chicago area, Eileen came to Winona in 2005 to attend Winona State University. After graduating with a degree in theatre and history in 2010, she returned to the Chicago suburbs but was ultimately pulled back to Winona in 2016. Drawn to any opportunity to organize arts events, uplift artists, and collaborate with other motivated community members, Eileen has been working in arts administration for a decade. She is a passionate gardener and knitter.

Inspire.  Be inspired.  Everyone welcome.

About artsXchange:

The Minnesota Marine Art Museum + River Arts Alliance are coming together to bring you a new, monthly informal artist exchange - a chance for artists and creatives from across a variety of mediums to gather for inspiration, exploration and exchange at the museum. Each month, a member from River Arts Alliance,  a nonprofit that supports and celebrates regional arts and culture, hosts a 90-minute artist meet-up and conversation with an artist, maker, designer, writer, or another creative person.

The event will begin by gathering in the atrium at MMAM and meeting their artist host. The group will then a take a short inspirational tour of the museum (identifying a couple of signature pieces to spark conversation, chosen by your artist guide), and continue with a meet-up in the Oberton Education Room for inspiring conversation that ranges from anything from technique, to who’s making what, to sales strategies, and other opportunities.
