Art is for everyone! Join the Minnesota Marine Art Museum for the Summer Seasonal Saturday on August 10. With $1 admission for all, this is a fun and lively day to visit the museum for first-time visitors and experienced museum-goers alike. Inspired by MMAM's current exhibition Ultra Mare: Kajahl, the theme of this Seasonal Saturday is Artistic Odyssey. Enjoy wandering the galleries on your own, or join a tour, listen to live music, try your hand at art-making, or visit one of our community partners. Bingo Overboard, everyone’s favorite search-and-find game, is always available- just don’t forget to pick up your prize!
August 10 Schedule of Events
Storytelling with Terry Visger
Gallery 3 [2pm, 2:30pm, 3pm]
Pull up a stool and go on your own odyssey as La Crosse-based storyteller, Terry Visger, tells three stories inspired by Kajahl's paintings of the sea in the exhibition Kajahl: Ultra Mare. Enjoy an Irish legend, a story about why the sea is salty, and a tale about a satyr. Each story is appropriate for all ages and will last about 15 minutes.
LIVE MUSIC
Gallery 5 [11am + 3pm]
Enjoy live music from Heart Strings Harp Circle (Harps) from 11am - 12pm, and live music from Adesso Duo (Violins) from 3 - 4pm.
THEMED TOURS
Atrium [10:15am, 11:15am, 12:15pm, 1:15, 2:15pm, 3:15pm, 4:15pm]
Take a 30-minute highlights tour of MMAM’s current exhibitions, including the other-wordly paintings in the Ultra Mare: Kajahl.
ART-MAKING
Oberton Education Room [all day]
Story Cups! Using simple paper cups, scissors and markers, create your own visual story to “spin.” For all ages and abilities.
BINGO OVERBOARD
Atrium [all day]
Play everyone’s favorite search-and-find gallery game and win a prize.
Food Truck
[10am - until sold out]
Purchase some tasty lunch from the Chef’s Table Food Truck, and enjoy it on the Museum’s riverwalk.
Community Partner: Sandbar Storytelling Festival
MMAM Family Lounge (10am- 5pm)
Meet the Sandbar Storytelling Festival and discover the art of storytelling art for all ages. Participate in an engaging activity, where you’ll combine your imagination and coloring skills to bring characters to life and create your own tales!

Free transportation to and from the Minnesota Marine Art Museum is available through Winona Area Transit Service’s Dial-A-Ride. Call 507-454-6666 to schedule your ride a few days before you plan to visit, and MMAM will pay your fare upon arrival and provide you with return fare.
