Join us at MMAM on Saturday, October 14 from 9am - 11am for coffee and pastries, and a preview of the exhibition with MMAM Staff. The exhibition opens to the public at 11am on Saturday, October 14, and will be on view through August 4, 2024.
Join us on Zoom for a virtual talk with master gyotaku artist Dwight Hwang.
Hwang will discuss the processes and inspiration behind the works in his exhibition From Sea to Paper: The Gyotaku Prints of Dwight Hwang on view now at the Minnesota Marine Art Museum through January 7, 2024. Hwang pushes the boundaries of traditional Gyotaku, a process by which an artist makes a print using a real fish, by printing them in different angles & perspectives and patterns & gradations in order to produce a more natural appearance, as well as incorporating other organic forms such as birds, plants, and even people.
The Minnesota Marine Art Museum is excited to partner with the Winona Symphony Orchestra to bring you Water Music, evenings that marry two art forms and celebrate their shared inspiration.

Set up your easels to show off some of what you've learned and created during the weekend! Some works painted in Winona by participating artists during Flora & Fauna - The Plein Air Experience, 2023 may be available for sale by arrangement with the individual artists. Coffee, tea, and baked goods will be provided.
Twelve renowned plein air painters will display their work in the atrium and shoppe of the Minnesota Marine Art Museum Thursday, September 28 through Sunday, October 1, from 10am - 5pm each day. The Plain Air Invitational Exhibition is free to visit, but the galleries of MMAM do require admission.
