There are many ways to support your art museum, and here are a few options - just like art, there’s something for everyone!

Appreciated Securities Gift

You may have the opportunity to make a special donation to your art museum using appreciated securities. By making a gift of appreciated stock directly to your art museum, you can avoid paying capital gains tax on the appreciated value of your assets and receive a tax deduction of up to 30% of your Federal Adjusted Gross Income. A win-win all around!

Qualified Charitable Distribution

This form of giving allows taxpayers to make IRA distributions payable directly to MMAM without treating the distribution as taxable income. This law permits up to $100,000 per eligible IRA owner to be contributed directly from their IRA to charity. Again, we suggest talking with your tax or investment advisor if you are interested in this form of support.

Bequest / Leave a Legacy

A bequest is one of the easiest ways to support your favorite nonprofit. You can include language in your will or revocable trust specifying a gift to be made to the Minnesota Marine Art Museum as part of your estate plan. You can also designate MMAM as a beneficiary of your retirement account or your life insurance policy. Employer Donation Matching

This is a great way of doubling your support!

There are a growing number of businesses and organizations that match their employees’ charitable contributions to nonprofit entities. MMAM qualifies for many employer match programs; most recently, we’ve received matching gifts from IBM, US Bank, and more. We encourage you to check with your employer about a charitable match program and guidelines. 

Sponsorship

Individuals, businesses, and foundations can sponsor MMAM programs, events, and exhibitions. Sponsorship is a mutually-beneficial partnership with MMAM where you or your business receives recognition and visibility on MMAM materials online, in print, and in the museum.
